Avento Health is recruiting for a Director of ICU opportunity with a healthcare organization in Las Cruces, New Mexico. This is a senior nursing leadership role for an experienced RN leader with a strong background in acute care, team leadership, quality improvement, and ICU operations.

Position Overview
The Director of ICU is responsible for overseeing the operational, clinical, and strategic performance of the Intensive Care Unit. This leader will help ensure high-quality patient care, strong staff engagement, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement across the department.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight for ICU operations, staff, and clinical performance
- Support quality improvement initiatives and foster a culture focused on patient safety and clinical excellence
- Lead, mentor, and develop nursing staff and department leadership
- Collaborate with physicians, hospital leadership, and interdisciplinary teams to improve outcomes and operational efficiency
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, regulatory standards, and best practices in critical care
- Monitor departmental goals, performance metrics, staffing effectiveness, and patient care standards
- Build and maintain a high-performing team focused on accountability, quality, and service excellence
Required Qualifications
- Current or eligible New Mexico RN license
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN)
- 7+ years of healthcare experience
- At least 3 years of leadership experience in a healthcare setting
- Experience building and leading teams focused on quality initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree strongly preferred, including MSN, MBA, or Master’s in Healthcare Administration
- Experience in a for-profit hospital setting
- Experience building collaborative relationships with providers and cross-functional stakeholders
