Experienced Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) | Full-Time | Day Schedule

About the Role
Avento Health is a recruiting agency partnering with a PHP/IOP in the Delray Beach, Florida area. Our client provides structured, trauma-informed care for individuals navigating substance use disorders, co-occurring mental health conditions, and process addictions, including sex addiction, gambling addiction, and pornography addiction, along with related behavioral health challenges.
This role is best suited for a candidate with prior experience in behavioral health, substance use treatment, mental health, process addiction treatment, or a similar direct-care setting. The Behavioral Health Technician will support day-to-day program operations, help maintain a safe and structured treatment environment, and work closely with the clinical team to deliver high-quality client care.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct support, supervision, and behavioral monitoring for clients throughout the program day
- Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment that supports treatment goals
- Assist with client check-in, attendance tracking, transitions, and daily programming
- Support group sessions by helping manage logistics, observing client participation, and reporting concerns to the clinical team
- Conduct routine safety checks and monitor client behavior, mood, and engagement
- Document observations accurately and communicate client concerns, incidents, or changes in presentation to clinical staff in a timely manner
- Use Sunwave EMR to support documentation, tracking, and coordination of daily client activities as needed
- Assist with transportation of clients as needed in accordance with company policies
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff to support smooth daily program flow and continuity of care
- Demonstrate professionalism, sound judgment, and appropriate boundaries in all client interactions
Requirements
- Clean driving record
- Ability to pass a Level 2 background check
- Reliable transportation
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and observational skills
- Ability to maintain professional boundaries in a behavioral health setting
- Comfortable working in a structured, fast-paced environment
- Basic computer proficiency and comfort working in an EMR system
- Cultural sensitivity required; experience supporting clients from religious communities or familiarity with related cultural practices is preferred
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 1 year of experience as a Behavioral Health Technician, Mental Health Technician, Recovery Support Staff, or in a similar behavioral health support role
- Experience working with substance use disorder, co-occurring disorder, process addiction, or mental health populations
- Experience in a treatment center, crisis setting, community behavioral health setting, or similar care environment
- Experience using Sunwave EMR or similar behavioral health documentation systems
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Ability to remain calm, professional, and engaged in a high-acuity or fast-moving clinical environment
- Interest in professional growth, increased responsibility, and long-term advancement within a treatment center
