Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $95,000–$130,000 base + monthly sales-related bonus

Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Solution Architect to join its growing Unified Communications practice. This is a highly customer-facing, pre-sales role responsible for understanding customer communications environments, uncovering business and technical requirements, and designing enterprise Avaya solutions that address those needs.

More than 80% of this role will focus on pre-sales architecture and customer engagement. The Solution Architect will partner closely with sales throughout the opportunity lifecycle, helping customers understand available solutions, developing technical architectures, determining licensing and equipment requirements, and supporting proposals and scopes of work.

The ideal candidate brings a strong Avaya background, experience with the Avaya pre-sales and solution design process, and the ability to confidently lead technical conversations with enterprise customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Partner with sales teams throughout the pre-sales process to develop enterprise Unified Communications and Contact Center solutions.
  • Lead customer discovery and solution-design conversations to understand existing environments, technical challenges, business requirements, and future-state needs.
  • Design Avaya-based enterprise communications solutions for new implementations, upgrades, migrations, and integrations.
  • Translate customer concepts and requirements into practical technical solutions and bills of materials.
  • Assess existing Avaya environments and recommend appropriate architecture, licensing, equipment, and integration strategies.
  • Design solutions involving Avaya Aura, AADS, gateways, Session Border Controllers, SIP connectivity, and related enterprise voice technologies.
  • Help customers understand technical recommendations and the business value behind proposed solutions.
  • Collaborate with sales, implementation engineers, project managers, managed services, and support teams to ensure proposed solutions can be successfully delivered.
  • Contribute technical content to proposals, scopes of work, RFP/RFI responses, design documentation, presentations, and customer workshops.
  • Navigate complex customer conversations and adjust proposed solutions as requirements change.
  • Maintain knowledge of evolving Unified Communications and Contact Center technologies.
  • Travel as needed for customer meetings, on-site discovery, internal meetings, and industry events.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience with Avaya enterprise voice and Unified Communications technologies.
  • Previous experience designing Avaya solutions within a pre-sales, Solution Architect, or customer-facing consulting environment.
  • Strong understanding of the Avaya solution design and pre-sales process, including translating customer requirements into technical designs and bills of materials.
  • Experience with Avaya Aura, including Communication Manager and related enterprise voice technologies.
  • Knowledge of Avaya Aura Device Services (AADS).
  • Experience with Session Border Controllers (SBCs), SIP, gateways, and enterprise voice integrations.
  • Experience designing complex enterprise phone or Contact Center environments.
  • Strong customer-facing communication, discovery, presentation, and consultative skills.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the flexibility to develop solutions when customer requirements or circumstances change.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as customer and business needs require.
  • Ability to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with Genesys Cloud or Genesys Engage.
  • Experience with Microsoft Teams voice/calling technologies.
  • Experience with Zoom communications technologies.
  • Experience designing solutions for large enterprise environments such as healthcare, banking, insurance, or government.
  • Experience working for an IT consulting organization, technology partner, MSP, or systems integrator.

Work Environment

Portland or Seattle and the I-5 corridor are strongly preferred due to customer proximity and travel accessibility. Candidates located within approximately one hour of an office should expect to work from that office occasionally. Home-office arrangements may be available depending on location.

The environment is best suited for someone who is flexible, energetic, comfortable working directly with customers, willing to continuously learn new technologies, and focused on finding solutions.
