Title: Implementation Engineer (Avaya)
Location: West Coast, Mostly Remote

Compensation: $90,000–$130,000
Position Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced Avaya Implementation Engineer to join a growing Unified Communications team supporting large enterprise customers.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on new Avaya builds, upgrades, integrations, system health checks, and remediation projects. The engineer will work directly with complex customer environments, including large phone and Contact Center systems across industries such as healthcare, banking, insurance, and government.
The ideal candidate brings strong hands-on experience with Avaya Aura and Communication Manager, along with experience working with SIP, gateways, Session Border Controllers, and large enterprise voice environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and configure new Avaya enterprise voice and Contact Center environments.
- Perform system upgrades, integrations, health checks, and remediation work.
- Configure, administer, and troubleshoot Avaya Aura and Communication Manager.
- Add, remove, configure, and troubleshoot voice gateways.
- Integrate and troubleshoot SIP circuits and Session Border Controllers (SBCs).
- Support large and complex enterprise phone and Contact Center environments.
- Assess existing customer environments and identify upgrade, integration, and remediation needs.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues throughout implementations and customer engagements.
- Work directly with customers during deployments, upgrades, and technical projects.
- Collaborate with Solution Architects, project teams, managed services, and support teams.
- Assist with complex technical escalations when additional engineering expertise is needed.
- Participate in an approximately once-per-month on-call rotation as backup to the support team.
- Travel occasionally to customer locations throughout the Western U.S.
- Continue developing skills across additional Unified Communications technologies.
Necessary Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with Avaya enterprise voice environments.
- Experience implementing, administering, upgrading, and troubleshooting Avaya Aura and Communication Manager.
- Experience with gateways, SIP connectivity, and Session Border Controllers (SBCs).
- Experience completing new builds, upgrades, integrations, health checks, and remediation projects.
- Experience supporting or implementing large, complex phone systems and/or Contact Centers.
- Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong customer-facing communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with customers and internal technical teams.
- Willingness to participate in an approximately once-per-month on-call rotation.
- Ability to travel occasionally for customer engagements.
- Must be located on the West Coast near a major airport.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Avaya Aura Device Services (AADS).
- Experience with large enterprise deployments within healthcare, banking, or insurance.
- Experience supporting government environments.
- Experience with Genesys Cloud or Genesys Engage.
- Experience with Microsoft Teams.
- Experience with Zoom.
- Experience working within an IT consulting organization, technology partner, MSP, or systems integrator.
Work Environment
This position is primarily remote, with occasional travel to customer locations throughout the Western United States. Candidates should be located on the West Coast, near a major airport, and able to work within the team's time zone.
The team is looking for someone who is flexible, energetic, willing to continuously learn new technologies, and comfortable stepping into complex customer situations to find solutions.
