Engineering Director

This position is responsible for the development, coordination and execution of assigned cellular infrastructure projects from inception through completion as well as providing final reviews of other project engineers’ work prior to submitting to the Client.

 

The Engineering Manager/Director is responsible to provide leadership to Project Management and Field Operations staff and is accountable for quoting, project execution, workflow process standardization, and continuous improvements. This includes providing strategic and tactical direction, coaching and development of Field Operations leadership, providing clear direction and corporate information sharing and executing departmental action plans for results.

 

Responsibilities

·        Design and analysis of cellular towers.

·        Prepares engineering studies, investigations, inspections, and reports and final review.

·        Provides overall supervision for a team.

·        Uses expertise of engineering computer aided design/computer aided engineering (CAD/CAE) tools to assist in engineering analysis and evaluations.

·        Prepares letters for replies to clients/contractor correspondences.

·        Meets and monitors Project Manager and Field Crew

·        Assists in the management of the engineering division from scheduling, project turnaround time, and revenue requirements.

·        Responsible for quality of final reports in terms of technical aspects and report writing.

·        Coach and develop Field Operations, Project Management, and Project Engineer personnel.

·        Ensure appropriate training and development for Field Operations personnel.

·        Along with other the Director of Engineering Investigative Services, develop business goals and monitor results for the operation.

·        Facilitate actions to improve performance.

·        Report and review key budget costs, standard measures and actual performance with Director of Engineering Investigative Services.

·        Coordinate new project start-ups with planning and on-site management.

·        Ensure standardization of project processes across regional accountability.

·        Participate in meetings related to essential operational issues; provide input on related decisions.

·        Communicate specific issues daily with Director of Engineering Investigative Services and staff.

·        Lead regular Field Operations team meetings to ensure standard processes.

·        Perform process audits and work with management on continuous improvement action plans.

·        Surface all findings to appropriate levels.

·        Implement all programs and processes as directed

·        Manage, direct and coordinate activity of field crews, project management, and project engineer staff with the responsibility of assuring the highest quality of work is performed in the inspection/investigation of towers and other structures.

·        Supervise the performance of field crews, project management, and project engineer staff to include providing evaluations and recommendations for matters related to their employment.

·        Help develop organizational and coordination skills in other engineers.

·        Efficiently prioritizes and performs job requirements and activities based on open communication with the field personnel and Director.

·        Maintenance and submission of complete and accurate files/logs/reports as determined

·        Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures as well as additional legal regulatory requirements (i.e., OSHA).

·        Effective utilization of available resources, technology, and tools to complete work. Properly follow all safety procedures and policies.


Requirements

  

·        Bachelor of Science in Civil or Mechanical Engineering (Structural emphasis)

·        Professional Registration is required.

·        Minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in structural engineering is required.

·        Experience in telecom structures is required.

·        Expertise in computer programs including MS Office, AutoCAD, among others

·        Expertise in TIA, AISC, ACI, and state building codes.

·        Expertise in manual numeric calculations and hand sketches to accurately represent building or tower design components.

·        Excellent visualization and interpretation of engineering evaluations.

·        Excellent oral and written communication skills.

·        Ability to prioritize multiple tasks.

·        Ability to provide final review of other engineers work.

·        Ability to travel 10%-25%.

·        Interpersonal communication skills needed to interact with management and employees.

·        Ability to read and interpret sketches and blueprints.
