Job Title: Senior / Staff Frontend Engineer (Remote, US)

Role Overview

We are partnering with a well-established, global technology-enabled services company that is modernizing how it builds software. Their engineering organization is delivering new customer-facing web and mobile experiences, a unified design system, and AI-powered capabilities across its products, with Engineering, Product, and Design working together end to end.

This is a high-leverage opportunity for a frontend engineer who already works this way. You will spend more time on architecture, technical direction, and production ownership than on writing every line of code yourself. Frontend Engineers here are software engineers first, held to the same bar for design, testing, performance, security, and production quality as everyone else, with added depth in the browser, component architecture, accessibility, and design systems. The team builds in Angular and TypeScript, and strong React or comparable frontend experience is directly relevant. This search covers two levels: Senior (own a frontend domain) and Staff (set frontend architecture strategy across products).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the full frontend lifecycle (architecture, implementation, testing, review, and production) while directing implementation and delegating meaningful build work to AI agents
  • Senior: Own a frontend domain end to end, including its architecture, quality, evolution, production behavior, and the shared capabilities other teams depend on
  • Senior: Set technical direction within the frontend platform, design patterns that solve real product needs, and establish clear boundaries
  • Staff: Set frontend architecture strategy across products, defining where shared patterns and platforms create leverage and where teams need flexibility
  • Staff: Lead the design system as an engineering platform, setting its technical direction, contribution and release model, and adoption strategy
  • Solve difficult frontend problems in production, leading diagnosis when behavior, performance, or reliability breaks down and staying accountable for what ships, regardless of who or what wrote the code
  • Own frontend quality and production health, defining how accessibility, performance, reliability, security, and testing are designed into frontend systems
  • Staff: Create the APIs, tooling, guardrails, documentation, and defaults that make excellent frontend engineering easier for every engineer
  • Set AI-native engineering practices for frontend teams, defining how agentic work is specified, validated, tested, and reviewed, while keeping review and production judgment human
  • Partner with Product, Design, QA, and full-stack engineers to bring frontend architecture, browser behavior, accessibility, and platform constraints into decisions early
  • Raise the engineering bar through mentoring, reviewing consequential changes, and growing engineers into broader ownership

Education & Qualifications:

All levels:

  • Deep frontend engineering experience building substantial applications with Angular, React, or a comparable framework
  • Strong understanding of component architecture, state and reactive data flows, rendering, APIs, and asynchronous behavior
  • Experience designing reusable frontend systems other engineers depend on (component API design, tokens, theming, versioning, migrations, backward compatibility)
  • Ability to set the bar for accessibility, performance, security, and privacy (XSS, authentication and session handling, browser storage, sensitive data exposure, third-party scripts)
  • Already works AI-first: agentic tools are a primary development surface for planning, implementation, testing, and review, and you remain accountable for what ships
  • Technical leadership experience, including mentoring and carrying meaningful production and incident responsibility

Senior:

  • Strong browser and web-platform fundamentals (semantic HTML, CSS, DOM and event model, browser APIs, progressive enhancement, cross-browser behavior) and the ability to diagnose issues with profiling and developer tooling
  • Ability to design and own a frontend testing strategy across unit, component, interaction, visual-regression, and end-to-end levels; experience with Jest, Testing Library, Playwright, Storybook, or similar tooling is preferred

Staff:

  • Deep frontend architecture expertise, having set technical direction for substantial Angular, React, or comparable applications, including module and package boundaries, dependency management, and performance
  • Depth to lead an Angular + TypeScript platform, with experience transferable across frameworks
  • Track record of building frontend platforms other teams successfully depend on
  • Ability to reason about production systems beyond the browser (API and service boundaries, authentication and authorization, observability, failure modes, deployment behavior)
  • Ability to turn organization-level ambiguity into durable technical direction and build alignment without relying on authority
  • Experience creating patterns and guardrails that let teams delegate engineering work to AI agents at organizational scale

Preferred Experience:

  • Hands-on Angular expertise
  • Experience with Storybook or visual-regression tooling
  • Contributions to a shared component library
  • Staff: Experience owning a component library or design system consumed outside your own organization
  • Staff: Contributions to open-source frontend tooling

Why Our Client:

  • Opportunity to shape how a well-established organization builds frontend software
  • Collaborative environment where Engineering, Product, and Design work together end to end
  • Work on customer-facing web and mobile experiences, a unified design system, and AI-powered capabilities
  • Fully remote position
  • High-leverage scope with room to grow into broader ownership

Compensation, Benefits and Perks:

  • Base salary range: $150,000 – $225,000, depending on level (Senior: $150,000 – $200,000; Staff: $175,000 – $225,000)
  • Medical, dental, and vision benefits
  • 401(k) with match
  • Paid time off
  • Wellness program

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis now and in the future. This position does not offer sponsorship.
