Who Are We?
-
About us: SoilWise was officially founded in July 2023 by community soil scientist Lynn Fang, MS, and ecological landscaper Ricky Martin. We are dedicated to creating healing landscapes and healthy soils. Our vision is to nurture abundance from the ground up, foster thriving ecosystems, and create spaces of healing for all.
We provide a variety of services and programs, including:
-
Ecological Landscaping: We support folks in getting their lawn rebate to transform their lawn into a lush native garden or edible landscape. We provide design, installation, and maintenance services that support a healthy ecology.
-
Soil Health Education: We launched our first online course in partnership with the 131º School of Composting, the SoilWise Microbial Assessment Certificate, which teaches soil practitioners how to assess soil health by using a microscope to look at their soil microbial community. We also host educational events in the community. We are looking to develop on-farm soil health trainings in the future.
-
Post-Fire Soil Testing + Bioremediation: Since the Eaton Fire and Palisades Fire, we have been supporting community members with soil contaminant testing and bioremediation projects on burned and non-burned properties.
