Type: Internship (Subsidized) Duration: Up to 160 hours (10–20 hours/week) 

Pay Rate: $17.87/hour (covered by LA County subsidy)


About Cari

Cari is a new kind of rideshare and delivery platform built to empower local communities. We believe drivers should earn more and riders should pay less. Our platform is focused on affordability, ownership, and providing quality service in underserved neighborhoods. Our mission started in the Caribbean and is now expanding in Los Angeles.


About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and confident Sales Intern to help us build our delivery platform by onboarding new restaurants and grocery stores. You will be responsible for reaching out to potential merchant partners through cold calling, cold emailing, and other creative outreach methods. You'll be a key part of our growth efforts and gain real-world sales experience at a fast-moving startup.

This internship is funded through LA County's workforce program for low-income youth, in partnership with LA-Tech.org. If eligible, you will receive paid experience while helping grow a company making a difference.


Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct outreach to potential restaurant and grocery store partners
  • Make cold calls and send outreach emails to businesses across Los Angeles
  • Assist with pitch development and follow-up scripts
  • Schedule and attend virtual or in-person meetings with business owners
  • Log outreach activity and keep track of responses in CRM tools
  • Support contract completion and the onboarding process
  • Share feedback with the team on what’s working and what could improve


What You'll Learn

  • How to approach and pitch to small business owners
  • Sales techniques and outreach best practices
  • How to build and manage a sales pipeline
  • Communication tools and CRM software (ex. HubSpot)
  • Strategies for growing a marketplace platform from the ground up


Qualifications

Required:

  • Confident speaker and clear communicator
  • Comfortable with phone calls and outreach to new people
  • Self-motivated and eager to learn
  • Interest in startups, tech, or community-focused business models


Nice to Have:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Communications, Marketing, or a related field
  • Previous internship experience in sales, customer service, or cold calling/emailing
  • Experience Google products: Gmail, Docs, Sheets, etc.


Internship Logistics

  • Max of 160 hours at $17.87/hr (fully covered by LA County)
  • Flexible hours (e.g. 10–20 per week)
  • Remote or hybrid with possible in-person meetings (LA-based)


Important Notes

  • Interns cannot begin work until LA County has finished processing
  • All timesheets must be approved and submitted by your career coach
  • You will receive notice when your 160 hours are nearing completion
