TAIPA Association Manager | Austin, TX | $150,000–$200,000
About the Role
This is a rare opportunity to serve as the senior leader of TAIPA a small, stable, mission-driven organization — one that plays a meaningful role in ensuring every Texas driver has access to automobile liability insurance. If you're an experienced insurance or association executive who wants real ownership over an organization without the noise of a large corporate environment, this role is worth a close look.
You'll lead a tenured, collaborative team of three out of a professional office in West Lake Hills, Austin. Minimal overtime. Real autonomy. Genuine impact.
About the Organization
We are a state-regulated residual market association operating under the Texas Department of Insurance (TDI). Our statutory mission is straightforward: ensure that Texas drivers who can't obtain coverage through standard carriers still have access to basic automobile liability insurance. We process over 1,600 applications annually and work closely with TDI, legal counsel, and the broader insurance industry to fulfill that mission.
What You'll Do
As Association Manager, you're the senior operational and administrative leader — responsible for everything from team development and regulatory compliance to budgeting, HR, and Governing Committee support.
Lead the team. Manage and develop three staff members, set a strong office culture, and continuously improve how the organization operates.
Own compliance and strategy. Establish organizational goals, ensure all operations meet statutory and regulatory requirements, and keep legal counsel and committee leadership informed of anything that matters.
Support the Governing Committee. Coordinate meetings in compliance with the Texas Open Meetings Act, prepare agendas and exhibits, compile the annual report, and manage all follow-through on action items.
Handle HR and payroll end-to-end. From hiring and performance reviews to payroll processing, benefits administration, and 401(k) compliance — you're the person.
Assist with finance and audit. Support annual audits, manage the budget process, review accounts payable, and help maintain clean financial records.
Drive modernization. Support an ongoing technology initiative to automate the application and payment system — a meaningful upgrade for the organization.
